This! Is! SPARTA!!! Race

Tracking My Training for Spartan Race in Monterey, CA 2013

It's hard to believe that 3 years have passed since I ran the US Half Marathon over the Golden Gate Bridge. After 5 miles, my body literally asked me
what the hell you doing to me?

That's what I get for training only 2 weeks before the marathon.  I attended a running class 6 weeks after that and the trainer was amazed that I didn't suffer any major injuries.  From that experience, I vowed never to run a marathon again.

Now that it's 2013 - a promotional deal that reduced the registration fee for the Spartan Race from $125 to $15 put me in a situation that requires me to train.  This is for Sparta after all....

I've been doing Insanity for over 2 years now - not following a specific schedule - doing one of the exercises at least twice a week.  I mix in some outdoor runs but during the past 6 months I haven't been in the mood.  I usually go on hibernation mode during Winter.  But I think that's a good thing because my body gets tricked and I'm motivated to work out more frequently once I get going again.

I'm committed to not injure my body like I did in the US Half Marathon, so hopefully blogging will keep me disciplined.
